MEN’S ROAD ARMY CYCLING RACE TEAM 2020

Congratulations to all those selected to represent the British Army in the 2020 Men’s Road Army Cycling Race Team.

They’ll be aiming to build on previous seasons, representing the Army at British Cycling events and inspire more soldiers to cycle.

We wish them all the best for their winter preparations and the season ahead.

ARMY CYCLING TEAM – TIME TRIAL APPLICATION 2020

The team in 2020 will comprise of a maximum of 10 riders. There will be no gender quota, both Reg & Res SP are eligible for selection.

All applicants must:
• Be CTT members, with Army Cycling Union nominated as their first claim club (this will be checked).
• Remain a fully paid-up ACU member prior to application throughout the 2020 season (this will be checked).
• Confirm that they have not submitted NTT/PVR or are not intending to leave the Army/Army Reserves prior to 01 Oct 20.

Interested athletes should complete the application form at Annex A (AI can be found on SharePoint and on Defence Connect – Army Cycling) and submit to the POC by 15 Nov 19.

ARMY ENDURO MTB TEAM 2020

Applications are now being accepted for the Army Enduro MTB 2020 Team. It will consist of up to 10 male and up to 5 female riders that meet the team selection criteria; balancing performance, potential, commitment and attitude. In addition, there is a position as the team mechanic which will be filled if suitable applicants should apply. All positions will be open for selection regardless of 2019 team selection. All applicants are to complete the application proforma at Annex A (AI can be found on SharePoint and on Defence Connect – Army Cycling) and return to the POC, Martin, no later than Fri 25 Oct 19. Incomplete or late applications will not be accepted!

INTER CORPS ROAD RACE CHAMPS WINNERS

Congratulations to the Royal Artillery male and female teams on their success in winning the Inter Corps Road Race Champs. The competition took place on 2nd October at Redbridge, on a nice sunny day. At the end of the day, it was just one point separating the male teams!

ARMY BMX RACE TEAM 2020

Application is open to all BMX racers in the Regular Army, Reserves or OTC regardless of age, gender, capbadge or rank. Applicants must hold a British Cycling race licence at the time of application and be a paid member of the Army Cycling Union. They must also have an endorsement from their chain of command. The form at Annex A to the AI is to be used – AI can be accessed via Army Cycling SharePoint. Applications must be made by 13 Dec 19. Applicants will be notified if they are successful or not by NLT 10 Jan 20.

ANOTHER RECORD FOR CHRIS MURRAY

Lt Col Chris Murray set a new record for York to Edinburgh route on 2 Oct 19, cycling the 186 miles in 9 hours 4 minutes and 55 seconds. The previous record was held by Eileen Sheridan since 1954, with 9.22.30. Another incredible achievement for Chris!
