BFBS Inter Services XC MTB 2021, Wed 29 Sep 21, Woodbury Common

The 2021 BFBS Inter Services Cross Country Mountain Bike (ISXCMTB) event took place at Woodbury Common on Wed 29 Sep 21, hosted by the Royal Navy. A superb course that offered great single-track, rewarding climbs and technical descents awaited.

INTER CORPS ROAD RACE CHAMPS WINNERS

Congratulations to the Royal Artillery male and female teams on their success in winning the Inter Corps Road Race Champs. The competition took place on 2nd October at Redbridge, on a nice sunny day. At the end of the day, it was just one point separating the male teams!

ARMY BMX RACE TEAM 2020

Application is open to all BMX racers in the Regular Army, Reserves or OTC regardless of age, gender, capbadge or rank. Applicants must hold a British Cycling race licence at the time of application and be a paid member of the Army Cycling Union. They must also have an endorsement from their chain of command. The form at Annex A to the AI is to be used – AI can be accessed via Army Cycling SharePoint. Applications must be made by 13 Dec 19. Applicants will be notified if they are successful or not by NLT 10 Jan 20.

ANOTHER RECORD FOR CHRIS MURRAY

Lt Col Chris Murray set a new record for York to Edinburgh route on 2 Oct 19, cycling the 186 miles in 9 hours 4 minutes and 55 seconds. The previous record was held by Eileen Sheridan since 1954, with 9.22.30. Another incredible achievement for Chris!

INTER CORPS ROAD RACE CHAMPS

The Inter Corps Road Race Championships will take place on Wed 2 Oct 19 at Redbridge Cycling Centre. Men’s race and Ladies’ race, open to Reg and Res personnel. AI is accessible on the ACU SharePoint. Speak to your Corps Rep to get involved!

EXERCISE WELSH EPIC 20

The Army Cycling Union (ACU) annual Pre-Season Training Camp will take place over the period 29 Mar – 10 Apr 20, based at Capel Curig Training Camp (CCTC) in North Wales.  This camp is open to all members of the ACU and is applicable to both Road and Mountain Bike (MTB) disciplines, regardless of experience or ability.

All individuals wishing to attend must be members of the ACU and should complete Annex A or B of the Warning Order (WO) and return it electronically to WO2 Aidan Williams no later than 1 Dec 19.

21 JAN 20 – WINTER WATTBIKE COMPETITION

The Winter Wattbike Competition 2020 will be held at Wand Tetley Gymnasium, Army School of Physical Training, Aldershot on Tue 21 Jan 20; commencing at 0800hrs. The event is open to all service personnel (Regular/Reserve & UOTC) and entitled MoD civil service personnel (who must take leave and show proof of third-party liability insurance). Units are encouraged to allow as many personnel as possible to take part in this event. The event will encompass competitions for individuals and teams or varied distances and age categories. Free entry.

TIME TRIAL SUCCESSES FOR CHRIS MURRAY

Lt Col Chris Murray won and broke the Competition Record at the CTT National 24 Hour Championship on Sun 21 Jul 19 in Cheshire. She was in supreme form and obliterated the previous course record of 461.45 miles, set by family friend Christine Roberts, back in 1993. Chris cycled an astounding 478.42 miles.

Chris’ second great success followed not long after, on Sun 11 Aug 19 in Norfolk, with her securing 2nd place at the CTT National 12 Hour Championship, cycling an incredible 266.37 miles.

Amazing achievements for Chris and the Army Cycling Time Trial team!
